Chelsea suffered a 3-0 defeat against Roma in their Champions League clash at the Olimpico Stadium on Tuesday night.

Roma scored an early goal inside the first minute by El Shaawary to gain the control of the game, the Italian striker grabbed the second goal before the end of halftime and in the second half Diego Perotti made it three for the home team.

Chelsea could have qualified for the knockout rounds from the group with a victory but was trailed within the opening minute when Edin Dzeko flicked Aleksandar Kolarov’s cross down to El Shaarawy who made no mistake in finding the back of the net.

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata missed the opportunity to equalize but he played it over the bar.

Antonio Rudiger failed to clear a long pass from Radja Nainggolan that led to El- Shaarawy second goal.

Chelsea had more shots - 14 to 13 - but was three behind when Perotti cracked home from 20 yards after Blues defenders failed to close him down.

Roma should have led 4-0 when Chelsea's defenders all ran to Dzeko, who managed to square it to totally unmarked Perotti, but he fired over when he should have finished.
