Chelsea Legend Frank Lampard has revealed the similarities between Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, according to report.

Lampard was impressed with the display of the Salah during the Champions League quarter-final second leg clash with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Salah was able to get the goal to reduce the pressure on the away team after he picked the ball in the penalty area to chip the ball over Argentine defender Nicolas Otamendi to restore parity in the match.

Messi is one the best players that know to explore space between the defence, but he was unable to prevent Barcelona from being eliminated from the Champions League by AS Roma on Tuesday evening.

And Lampard explained how the 25-year-old reminds him of Messi's positioning in attacking areas.

"He didn't get many chances at Chelsea to show what he's capable of,"

"But he's released himself from the wing.

"At Chelsea, he was seen as a winger and he didn't have much impact

"To be fair to him there were a lot of players ahead of him at the time like Eden Hazard etc.

"We watch Lionel Messi and sometimes he's great at just standing in areas.

"Salah's started to do that. He'll be just standing there and the ball will come to him." Lampard told BT Sport.

The Egyptian strike against Manchester City is his 39th goal of the season and his eighth in the Champions League.
