Late Chinedu Udoji's family got a donation of N3 million from Kano State governor, Umar Ganduje.

The 28-year-old defender passed away on February 18 in a ghastly motor accident hours after Kano Pillars Nigeria Professional Football League clash against his former club Enyimba at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

The incident happened along club road in Kano after the centre-back visited his former Enyimba teammates at their hotel.

The four-time NPFL champions posted a picture of late Udoji’s wife, two sons and some family members with Governor Ganduje and some state officials on their Twitter handle with a message above it.

"The family of Late Chinedu Udoji received a donation of N3 million in cash from the Governor of Kano State,” Kano Pillars tweeted

"Udoji is a great personality and a role model who is very committed to the success of Kano Pillars both on and off the pitch.

"The state government decision to ease and help his young family with a token as we cannot bring him back to life or pay his family replacement,” Ganduje said.

Earlier, the deceased’s elder brother who led the family to the government house, Anthony Udoji, thanked the state government for the kind gesture towards the family.

“We thank the people and government of Kano state for this singular gesture and we take his demise in good faith as its destiny as every human will taste death,” Anthony said.

Udoji spent years with Enyimba before joining Kano Pillars last season.
