Bayern Munich continued from where they stopped in 2017 as they secured a 3-1 away win against Bayern Leverkusen on Friday night
The Bavarians showed no signs of rust following the winter break as the Bundesliga leaders extended their advantage at the top of the league and put Bayer Leverkusen to the sword.
Javi Martinez broke the deadlock for the visitors with a shot from close range
finding the top corner just after the half-hour mark.
Franck Ribery then doubled the lead with a sublime finish into the bottom corner after being fed by James Rodriguez. Leverkusen then pulled one back through Kevin Volland, a precise shot from outside the box but James Rodriguez ensured the points went back to Munich with a late free kick.
Bayern now have
44 points from 18 games.
