LIV 2-0 CHE: Mane & Salah on target for the Reds

One goal each from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah fire Liverpool to a 2-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday at the Anfield in the Premier League.

The first opportunity of the game fell in the leg of Mohammed Salah but Kepa Arizabalaga was at the right spot to make a save.

The game was marred with much physicality in the opening 10 minutes as both teams played an end to end attacking game.

Liverpool had more ball possession in the 15 minutes, the two teams were fired up for the game as they know what is at stake if any of them failed to claim the three points at the end of the game.

Chelsea had some decent moment to create a goal but their passes were not measured accurately. Willian almost broke the deadlock from a counter attacker after he was released from deep by David Luiz but his effort went wide off the target.

Sadio Mane blasted a chance to put Liverpool ahead in the 37th minute after a nice move from Salah. Antonio Rudiger was forced off after he sustained an injury with five minutes to end the first half, he was immediately replaced by Andreas Christensen.

Liverpool broke the deadlock in the 51st minute after Jordan Henderson cross met Mane in the other end of the pole, the Senegalese forward nodded the ball into the net.

Salah controlled a ball from the deep to unleash a shot to the top right corner of the post from a distance in the 54th minute.

Liverpool had a better game plan in the second half as they penetrate the defence of the Chelsea with ease.

Gonzalo Higuain was brought in to replace Hudson -Odoi and he wasted no time to introduce himself in the 59th minute after he beat the offside trap only to be denied by the pole.

Eden Hazard's effort was saved bt Alisson Becker to keep the scoreline on the same level.

Jurgen Klopp withdrew Naby Keita for Georginio Wijnaldum in the 66th minute as he aimed to strengthen the midfield.

Ross Barkley was thrown in for Ruben Loftus-Cheek with 15 minutes remaining, Henderson was substituted for James Milner in the 76th minute.

Salah was withdrawn for Xherdan Shaqiri in the 90th minute of the clash. The game ended in favour of Liverpool at the continue to trade blow with Manchester City for the Premier League title.
