Liverpool failed to shine at Anfield as their visitors, Sevilla held them to a 2-2 draw during the Champions League tie on Wednesday night.
Four goals were recorded in the match as Wissam Ben Yedder opened scores for the visitors. He struck early and it was 0-1 to Sevilla. Liverpool's Firminho replied the goal in the 21st minute followed closely by that of Mohammed Sallah at the 37th minute. The last goal of the game was an equalizer from the visitor as Joaquín Correa closed scores to 2-2.
Liverpool made their first impression one minute into the game as Can hit the target with an early shot that was saved by Sergio Rico.
Just 5 minutes in the game, Sevilla moved their first attack which resulted in a wonderful goal by Wissam Ben Yedder giving the visitors edge over their host in a 1-0 scoreline.
Liverpool didn't suck about the early goal against them as Mane struck in the 9th minute which turned into a good meal for the goalkeeper who grabbed the ball.
The hosts overturned the 1-0 scoreline with an equalizer from Firminho just at the 21st minute. It was a superb team goal, clean one, two from Henderson to Moreno who delivered a neat cross and then there was Firminho to tap it in.
The game settled after a very enjoyable first quarter that saw both teams attacking and defending massively.
Mohammed Sallah introduced himself at the 37th minute with a brilliant goal that changed the scoreline to 2-1 in favour
of the Reds. A few minutes later, at the 41st minute, Liverpool earned a penalty off their visitors as Pareja clipped Mane from behind and he went down.
It was quite unfortunate, Firminho whacked it against the post. He sent the keeper the wrong way, alright, but struck the woodwork.
The first half ended with a counter attack from Liverpool as Firmino, sent it on to the overlapping Moreno, who drilled a hard shot at the keeper and it was a good save.
The second half kicked off with both teams bringing in their A-game to the pitch.
Sevilla leveled it up with a goal from Joaquín Correa at the 72nd minute and it was an equalizer for the visitors; 2-2. A quick throw from Sergio Escudero to Muriel, who brought it through to Correa, and he slotted it. A lovely slick clever goal!
Liverpool made their changes at the 76th minute as Can came off paving way for Coutinho who came on. This is his first game of the season for the Reds and he owes fans and his manager.
Liverpool attacked so brilliantly at times, while Sevilla fans made the noise at the moment. They slow the game down. Liverpool have
it down the left, looking to build. Danny Sturridge came on as Sadio Mane shook his hand. It was Danny's first appearance for Liverpool in the Champions League.
There weren't many chances since after the fourth goal until the last chance from Sevilla who had a great chance! Ball
was played forward, Muriel broke through,
and shot only a foot wide under extreme pressure from Gomez.
The match finally ended in 2-2 scoreline. What a game!
