Liverpool fans divided as Coutinho ‘says yes to Barca’

There has been much speculation about Philippe Coutinho‘s future of late, with the Liverpool midfielder continuing to be linked with a move to Barcelona, and according to Barcelona-based newspaper Sport, Coutinho has given Barcelona the approval for a summer move, with the player ready to put pressure on Liverpool to seal his switch to Spain.

However, upon receiving the Player of the Year award from Liverpool’s Former Players Association, 5 Times, this week, Coutinho stated that he would like to win lots of trophies with the club.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Coutinho said: “I just want to say thank-you to everyone.

"I am really proud to be voted for this award by Liverpool’s former players. I know they won a lot of things with this club and I hope that one day I can do the same."

An excellent distributor of the ball, Coutinho has an average pass accuracy of 83% in the Premier League this season, while he has created 58 chances for his team-mates.

Liverpool will be hugely reluctant to lose Coutinho given his importance to the side, with the Brazilian capable of performing effectively as an attacking midfielder or a left winger.

However, should Barcelona make a significant offer for the 24-year-old then it could be very difficult for Liverpool to turn it down. Liverpool face West Ham United away on Sunday as they seek to boost their chances of securing a top four finish in the Premier League.

Here we take a look at how Liverpool fans reacted to speculation linking Coutinho with a move to Barcelona.
