Liverpool hat-trick hero in Portugal on Wednesday Sadio Mane has praised the quality of his side following an emphatic win over FC Porto in their UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg.

Liverpool's 5-0 win is the joint biggest away Champions League knockout victory, equaling Bayern Munich’s 5-0 win at Sporting in February 2009 and Real Madrid at Schalke in February 2014.

Sadio Mane who is now the fourth Liverpool player to score a hat-trick in the Champions League, after Michael Owen, Yossi Benayoun and Philippe Coutinho said: "Honestly it was not an easy game even if we scored five.

"We played great football from the beginning to the end." Mane told BT Sports

On which was the most pleasing goal for him on the night, the former Southampton man added: "The third one. It was a nice strike.

"I've always enjoyed playing with these great players. Without the team [behind us] though we are nothing. They give us the ball." said the Senegalese

Mane becomes the 63rd player to score a #UCL hat-trick, group stage to final - his effort tonight was the 112th in the competition.

Liverpool Goals from Mané and Salah separated the sides at the half-way mark. The hosts did their all to get back into the game, however, the Liverpool defence showed no signs of cracking and remained compact throughout.

Firmino's neat finish and two more from Mané to complete his hat-trick comfortably saw off the Portuguese outfit. The primeira liga leaders will certainly have their work cut out in the second leg.
