Emre Can's hopes of making the final of the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool are fading fast as the midfielder who has not featured since the 5-0 victory over Watford due to a back problem is still yet to regain full fitness.

Can was taken off against Watford and has not played for the Reds since. The midfielder of Turkish origin did look like he could recover in time for the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kiev on May 26 2018

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp had hoped to have Can back in training but his latest scan showed he is not yet ready for a return and will continue to have treatment.

Asked about the player's injury and contract situation, Klopp said: "There is nothing new on both parts – still treatment and rehab.

"If we would have agreed anything, you would have known that. It’s like it was before." Klopp said as quoted by Turkish-Football

Can has just a few months remaining on his current contract but has yet to agree a new deal with the Reds. As things stand the 24-year-old will be a free agent at the end of the season.

The powerful midfielder has been closely linked with a move to Juventus but has yet to reach an agreement.
