L'Pool 7-0 Spartak: Coutinho scores 1st hat-trick for Kops

Philippe Coutinho registered his first ever hat-trick for Liverpool in their 7-0 victory against Spartak Moscow during the Matchday 6 Champions League encounter at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Two goals from the Brazillian in the first half and one in the second completed his hat-trick, while a lone goal from Firmino and Salah in the first and second half raised the scoreline higher. Sadio Mane's brace at the second half skyrocketed the scores to 7-0 in favour of the host team.

Liverpool netted an early goal at the 4th minute of the game courtesy of Philippe Coutinho who lofted the ball into the Spartak box as Mo Salah went down along with Dzhikiya and it was a penalty in favour of the Reds.

Nerves settled at Anfield as Coutinho slotted the ball into the net in a penalty kick and gifted Liverpool an early goal which opened the scoreline to 1-0 as the home team led.

As time went by in the first half, Philippe Coutinho came through with a brace at the 15th minute and doubled Liverpool's lead. The fabulous four were all involved in the process that birthed the Kops second goal. Mane started things off as he drifted through the midfield unchallenged and fed Salah, whose first-time pass found Firmino, and rather than shooting from an angle the Brazilian found his compatriot Coutinho who arrived at the back post and laid it on a plate for him. It was two goals for Coutinho and Liverpool.

Just three minutes later, Liverpool recorded their third goal at the 18th minute. It was a festival of goals for the host team who edged their visitors with three goals in 18 minutes. It was Firmino who finished up with Mane's earlier attempt and the Brazillian successfully found the back of the net. At this point, it was Liverpool 3-0 Spartak Moscow.

The first half ended here and the soft penalty after two minutes gave Liverpool the chance to take full control and they didn't need asking twice. 3-0 up within 19 minutes and cruising, they will finish top of the group. The next 45 minutes are inconsequential, really.

Just like in the first half, Liverpool came through with an early goal in the second half. Sadio Mane registered his first goal of the night at the 47th minute with an assist from Milner making the scoreline 4-0. 

Coutinho can be termed the man of the match in the Wednesday night Champions League encounter as the Brazillian delivered a deserved hat-trick at the 50th minute making the scoreline 5-0 in favour of Liverpool. Another assist from Milner birthed the Kops fifth goal of the night.

Liverpool made changes at the 61st minute as Trent Alexander-Arnold replaced Lovren followed by Pasalic who replaced Dzhikiya for the visitors. And at the 71st minute, Firmino was replaced by Daniel Sturridge.

And it was the number 6th goal for the Reds at the 76th minutes as Mane introduced himself with a brace at the Champions League showdown at Anfield. An assist from Sturridge who came in from the bench heralded Sadio Mane's second goal which increased the scoreline to Liverpool 6-0 Spartak Moscow.

Mo Salah answered his name with a lone goal at the 86th minute of the entertainment showdown. He latched on to Milner's cross after Sturridge's dummy, faked a shot which sold two defenders before firing into the top corner to make the scoreline 7-0 to the disadvantage of the visitors.

It was the last goal of the night as Liverpool edged their visitors in a massive 7-0 goal deficit making it their 23 goals in the Champions League this season as they only scored 18 in 2004-05 when they won it.
