Man City 1-0 Chelsea: Bernardo moves City to 18 points clear - FCNaija

A second-half strike from Bernardo Silva against Chelsea moved Manchester City to 18 points clear ahead of second-placed Liverpool on top of the Premier League table with nine games remaining.

Manchester City approached the game with their custom style as they pushed up to attack Chelsea in the and in the third minute Manchester City has forced Chelsea to concede a corner kick.

Leroy Sane got a shooting opportunity but his effort was blocked by the Chelsea defence in the 11th minute of the clash., Sergio Aguero also had an opportunity to put City ahead in the 13th minute by Chelsea defence looked very solid to penetrate and in a quick succession Sane made another attempt on goal his effort was also denied by the Chelsea defense.

City continued to hit press as Bernardo Silva strike missed the target as the Premier League leaders continue to find a way to register a goal after 20 minutes of play.

Chelsea pushed forward and Willian got an opportunity but to strike but his effort was denied by the Manchester City defence.

Manchester City defender Olexandr Zinchenko was booked by the referee in the 24th minute, the home team had a chance to break the deadlock but Bernardo Silva's effort went off the mark in the 33rd minute, David Silva also fired in a shot for Manchester City but the shot was blocked in the 34th minute of the game.

Pedro also made an attempt with 10 minutes remaining to end the first half but he failed to get the target, the first half ended goalless as but teams failed to break the deadlock.

Manchester City broke the deadlock just in the opening minute of the second half as Bernardo Silva gave the host the lead from a fine assist from David Silva.

Pep Guardiola introduced Gabriel Jesus into the game as he withdrew Aguero with five minutes remaining and with three minutes to go he brought in Danilo to replace Zinchenko and in the last minute he substituted David Silva for Philip Folden.

Manchester City was able to claim the three points at home as they move closer to winning the Premier League title.
