Sergio Aguero's late strike earned Manchester City a late victory against Bristol in the first leg of the Carabao Cup at the Etihad Stadium after Bristol went ahead through Bobby Reid in the first half, Kevin de Bruyne equalised for the home team in the second half before the Argentine forward sealed it up with a late goal.

Manchester City started the game in their usual style by attacking and in the fifth minute Kevin de Bruyne tried an attempt on goal but it was unsuccessful and the home side pushed further in a bid to get an early goal as Ilkay Gundogan effort went off target.

Bristol City launched an attack in the 11th minute but City was equal to the task. De Bruyne was presented with a shooting opportunity to break the deadlock in the 12 minute but his strike went off the post.

The Etihad out got a chance but Bernardo Siva could make the best use of the opportunity, the home team is the better team so far.

Gundogan could have given Manchester City the lead but his strike was blocked by the solid defence of Bristol City.

Bristol City took the lead from a penalty spot after Bobby Reid converted the spot kick in the 44th minute and with just a minute to end the first half at Etihad Stadium the away team is in front.

Bristol City has been solid defensively as they kept the Premier League leaders at bay after in the first half of the game.

The first 45 minutes ended in favour of Bristol City and Bobby Reid’s goal was the only goal that proves the difference.

Manchester City resumed the second with a better attacking play and the effort paid off when Raheem Sterling sublime pass to De Bruyne resulted in a goal in the 55th minute.

The home team equalised through De Bruyne whose effort was denied earlier in the first half. Pep Guardiola’s men controlled the game and pushed out for the second goal.

Guardiola made his first substitute of the night Sergio Aguero replaced Yaya Toure in the 70th minute in a bid to add more strength to the attack.

The home team made their second substitution Kyle Walker replaced Olexandr Zinchenko with just 10 minutes remaining.

Bernardo Silva set up Aguero who made no mistake to get City the win through a header in the last minute of the game. The Etihad outfit will take a goal advantage into the second leg of the encounter.
