Man City 7-0 Schalke 04: Cityzens show ruthless display

Manchester City showed a ruthless display against Schalke 04 in the Champions League after a 7-0 win over their German opponent in the round of 16 at the Etihad Stadium, on the aggregate of 10-2 as they qualified the quarterfinals in style.

Manchester City broke the deadlock through Sergio Aguero in the 33rd minute after the Argentine made no mistake to convert the spot-kick after the referee awarded a penalty after a heavy challenge in the box.

Aguero scored another goal after just six minutes following a brilliant assist from Raheem Sterling, Aguero showed great composure to get the second goal for Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Leroy Sane compounded Schalke woes after he found the back of the net with two minutes to end the first 45 minutes after Oleksandr managed to pass the ball the German attacker.

The first half ended 3-0 in favour of Manchester City with the game under their control.

The second half saw Manchester City in a total attacking mode as they went out in search for more goals, Sterling coolly beat the goalkeeper to score the fourth goal after in the 57th minute after Sane's goal has been disallowed by VAR three minutes earlier.

Pep Guardiola made a double change in the 64th minute David Silva and Aguero coming off for Phil Folden and Gabriel Jesus respectively. Manchester City was at it again when Sane pass found its way to Bernardo Silva who unleashes a low drive from the edge of the box to get the fifth goal for Manchester City.

Final change for Manchester City as Fabian Delph replaces Aymeric Laporte with 18 minutes to end the clash. Folden takes no time to announce his presence when he chipped the ball over the stranded goalkeeper to score the sixth goal for Manchester City in the 78th minute of the clash.

Jesus also wasted no time to get on the score sheet with six minutes to go as he adds to Manchester City's tally to seven goals.

Manchester City reached the quarterfinals on the aggregate of 10-2 against Schalke 04.
