Man City v Livepool HT update: Mane sent off as Kops trail

Manchester City fans will be satisfied with their side's display as they go in at half-time with a commanding two-goal lead even though their delight is tempered by the injury to goalkeeper Ederson in the collision that led to Sadio Mane's red card.

It was such a brave piece of goalkeeping, knowing there was a real chance he could take a heavy blow, and it is to be hoped the consequences are not serious.

Fifa's laws of the game for the 2017-18 season contains the following entry...

"Serious foul play - a tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play."

Goals from Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus means the Cityzens are 45 minutes away from their first home win of the new Premier League campaign. Since his Man City debut in September 2015, no player has more Premier League assists than Kevin De Bruyne (29) who was handy to set up both South Americans in Saturday's early kickoff.
