TEAM NEWS

MANCHESTER CITY:

Pep Guardiola would be without Nicolas Otamendi for the reverse fixture against Schalke 04 due to suspension following his red card in the first leg of the clash in Germany.

Manchester City will also do without Kelvin de Bruyne, Fernandinho, Benjamin Mendy and Claudio Bravo due to injury.

SCHALKE 04:

The visitors will be without Alessandro Schopf, Omar Mascarell and Daniel Caligiuri due to injury

HEAD TO HEAD:

Manchester City had a better head to head record if both teams are placed on side to side comparison.

The last game ended 3-2 in favour Manchester City at the Veltins Arena, Schalke only victory over City came in the semi-finals of the Cup Winners' Cup in 1970.

However, they have only failed to score against City once, in a 2-0 defeat in 2008, and they will need to maintain that record if they are to salvage something against the Premier League Champions.

RECENT FORMS:

MANCHESTER CITY:

The Cityzens are in best of form at this point of the season, Pep Guardiola’s men have won their last nine games.

They recorded wins against their fellow Premier League rivals having won against Arsenal and Chelsea.

Manchester City defeated Watford in their last Premier League match with a 3-1 comfortable win with Raheem Sterling scoring a hat-trick for the Sky Blue outfit.

SCHKALE 04:

Domenico Tedesco’s men have been of poor form lately, after the first leg defeat against Manchester City they went on to lose four consecutive matches in the Bundesliga.

If they suffer defeat against Manchester City it would increase the number of the defeat suffered.
