Chelsea & Liverpool must pay €50m for Serie A midfielder

Manchester United sent scouts to check on highly-rated Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic last week, with an eye on a summer transfer move.

Jose Mourinho wants two new midfielders for the summer and the powerful Milinkovic-Savic is a target, according to the Daily Mail. But the report claims the midfielder struggled to make an impression last Thursday, under the scrutiny of United staff, as Lazio lost 4-1 to Red Bull Salzburg in the Europa League.

The 23-year-old has scored 11 goals this season and is valued at £89million by his club.

Meanwhile, espite seeing Manchester City emerge champions of the 2017/18 Premier League season, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that he won't do 'anything crazy' in the transfer market this summer in an attempt to catch their cross-town rivals.

“We are not going to spend more than we can. We are not going to do anything crazy,” Mourinho said, as reported by Sky Sports. “We are just trying to improve a little bit more. That's what we are going to try.

“Everybody will try to improve - like we did from last season. Last season we finished sixth and this season we are going to finish, hopefully, second.

“Next season, we are going to try to improve, but let's see what happens. Maybe also City will invest massively and they don't let the others close the gap to them, I don't know.

“But it is not about us and them, it is about us and them and Liverpool and Arsenal and Chelsea and Spurs. It is not City and United. It is about the six.”
