MAN UTD 0-0 LIV: Red Devils fight hard to earn a draw

Manchester United put up a hard fight to earn a draw against in-form Liverpool after the home team suffered three injuries into opening 45 minutes.

David de Gea was fast enough to react to clear the danger.

Liverpool remained to compose as they had more of the possession and looked comfortable with the ball on their feet as Manchester United rely heavily on counter-attack.

Ander Herrera suffered a knock in the 19th minute and Andrew Perreira was thrown in for the injured Spanish midfielder.

Juan Mata was another player who suffered a knock and he was withdrawn in the 25th minute for Jesse Lingard.

The game was marred by injuries as Liverpool forward Firmino was withdrawn for Daniel Sturridge, the game witnessed three substitutes inside the 31st minute of the clash.

Paul Pogba's shot was blocked by Virgil Van Dirk as the Dutch defender prevented the home team from going ahead in the 37th minute.

Alisson was called on duty when he denied Lingard in a one on one situation. And again Lingard who came in as a substitute suffered a knock and Alexis Sanchez was thrown in with two minutes to end the first 45 minute.

The first half ended in a stalemate.

The second half saw Manchester United more cautious as they aim to sit back and attack when they have the ball, Manchester United looked effective on the ball with the few times they have it.

The home team was a bit defensive in the second half after they have been marred by injury in the first half.

Shaqiri was introduced with 20 minutes to go as Henderson was withdrawn for the Swiss attacker.

Manchester United attacked with 15 minutes to end the game as they moved a bit forward from their defensive play to cause havoc for Liverpool.

Mohammed Salah was substituted for Davoc Origi in the 79th minute, the Belgian was quick to introduce himself as he showed some silky move against Manchester United defence.

The game ended 0-0 at the Old Trafford.
