Manchester United flop Memphis Depay has named two Premier League clubs he wants to join Manchester City and Chelsea one of the five best clubs in Europe when he leaves Lyon but not his for former club.

The 24-year-old Netherland international has rebuilt his career in France after an immensely disappointing one-and-a-half year spell at Old Trafford where he managed only seven goals in 53 appearances for the Red Devils.

Depay is now setting his sights on a new and grander challenge for his career after he becomes an integral member of Lyon’s squad but Manchester United have a buy-back clause in Memphis’ contract when he move to Ligue 1 side, it appears the Dutchman is eyeing a move to one of the club’s rivals.

Former PSV winger told Helden magazine: "Lyon is a big club, but not one of the five best in Europe.

"I want to go to a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich.

"I want to go to a city that suits me and a club that suits me, to a team that really wants to play football.

"I always talk about Real Madrid, a royal club, white shirts with gold. But I'm focused right now on Lyon, and then we see where I end up.

Depay moved to the Ligue 1 club in January 2017 and has proved a big hit in France after scoring 33 times in 91 appearances, a stark contrast from his miserable spell in the Premier League.
