Manchester United have offered to Roma midfielder, Radja Nainggolan £6.6m a-year deal to join the Old Trafford side this season, according to reports in Italy.

Interestingly, the report claims that Red Devils manager, Jose Mourinho personally sent the proposal to the midfielder with the hope of convincing him to join United ahead of long-term admirer’s Chelsea.

Nainggolan currently earns €3m-a-year salary and was offered a new €4m-a-year deal contract by Roma this month but he has failed to sign while holding out for more pay.

Nainggolan was asked earlier this month if he had received an offer from Manchester United, he replied: ‘Maybe it’s true, maybe it isn’t.

‘Right now I just want to go on vacation, then we’ll see what happens.’

Chelsea have failed by match Roma’s £32m asking price for the player as they are only willing to pay £23m which gives United the chance to seal the deal with a higher offer.
