Messi scores hat-trick as Barcelona thrash Celta Vigo

Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick, including two sublime free-kicks, as Barcelona thrashed Celta Vigo b4-1 in La Liga encounter at Nou Camp on Saturday night late kick off following a difficult week.

The Catalans club lost 3-1 away to Levante last Saturday and were held to a disappointing draw at home to Slavia Prague in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Howver Messi put the hosts back in front with a similar attempt four minutes later.

The Catalans had still not scored in open play in over 230 minutes of football, but Messi made it 3-1 with another fantastic free-kick early in the second half to complete a superb set-piece hat-trick. before Sergio Busquets began on the bench added a fourth.

Barcelona return to the top of the table, although the Blaugrana remain level on points with rivals Real Madrid after 12 matches each with Los Blancos had earlier defeated Eibar 4-0.

Celta are still in the bottom three with just nine points from their 13 games.
