Nigerian skipper John Obi Mikel and national team legend Sunday Oliseh have both reacted to Super Falcons 1-0 defeat in the team’s final group stage game in Rennes, which put them on the verge of elimination from the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Wendie Renard’s 79th-minute penalty condemned the hard-fighting African champions to their second defeat of the tournament after a retaken spot-kick but thanks to VAR decision.

Super Falcons finished as Group A’s third best side and could advance to the Round of 16, should they rank among the four best third-placed teams from the six groups.

However, despite the team’s defeat, Mikel and coach Oliseh has expressed his pride in their performance at Roazhon Park with both legends assured them of maximum support after speaking on social media.

Meanwhile, Mikel and his Super Eagles teammates are in Egypt preparing for their first game at the 2019 African Nations Cup which will be played on Saturday, June 22.
