Torres confirms end to his Atletico Madrid career

With Fernando Torres' career at Atletico Madrid drawing to an end the most likely option is that he will head for the MLS over China and there are five teams that will be jostling for his signature, according to MARCA.

New York City FC

If Torres goes to the Big Apple then he would play alongside his friend and former teammate David Villa. The two of them together would form one of the most dangerous partnerships in the tournament and he would be a boost to the club which has shown a dependency on Villa especially in the playoffs.

Chicago Fire

The side from Illinois have the top scorer from last season, Nemanja Nikolic, in their ranks but apart from him there is little firepower with David Accam having left for Philadelphia Union.

Also, Torres knows the coach Veljko Paunovic, who was a teammate of his at Atletico in 2003.

Montreal Impact

The Canadian team have little strength in attack as is shown by their five goals in five games but they do have a quality creative player in Nacho Piatti.

Sporting Kansas City

They are missing a centre-forward but they are not a club that likes to spend a lot of money on signings. Sporting are leaders of their championship and would be favourites to win it and reach the final of the MLS with Torres on board.

Seattle Sounders

The runners-up in the MLS last season, they have started this campaign badly with three defeats from three games and no goals. Striker Clint Dempsey is past his best and they are looking for a new forward who can make the most of chances provided by playmaker Nicolas Lodeiro.
