Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho feels Nigeria's Victor Moses and his Chelsea team-mates were unworthy winners of the Emirates FA Cup trophy as his side didn’t deserve to lose against his former employers.

Eden Hazard’s first-half penalty settled the end-of-season showpiece on Saturday evening at Wembley to ensure the Blues handed departing manager Antonio Conte his first Cup victory as a manager.

Mourinho in after the encounter in which Moses played the entire 90 minutes said: "I congratulate them because they won but I don't think they deserved to win.

"I congratulate [them] because I am a sportsman and they scored one more goal than us and they get the Cup. I think I have to do what my job requires me to do - I am the Manchester United manager and I must be respectful, not just because they [Chelsea] were my previous club but because they are the opponent that won the Cup.

"But I think we deserved to win, we were the better team but that's football. It’s disappointing. We were the second-best team in the Premier League and we were the second-best team in the FA Cup, although I think we were the best [in that competition]."

The defeat was Mourinho's first cup final defeat in charge of an English club, after winning each of the previous six (four League/EFL Cups, one FA Cup, one Europa League).

Moses's Chelsea have won their eighth FA Cup and their first since 2012, taking them level with Tottenham - only Man Utd (12) and Arsenal (13) have won more.
