World record signing Neymar is of the opinion that Paris Saint-Germain have a better chance of winning the UEFA Champions League than his former side Barcelona.
Neymar scored in Barcelona’s 2015 Champions League final win over Juventus — the highlight of his four-year stint in Spain. Alongside Messi and Suarez, he emerged as one of the world’s top talents in their feared MSN attack.
Yet this summer he decided to break free after PSG’s Qatari owners met Barca’s buyout clause and brought him to France. The cynics will say it’s all for
the money and his eye-watering £500k per week wage would back up that theory.
Yet Neymar is adamant he is in Paris to leave a lasting legacy on the pitch and bring the Champions League trophy back to France. And when he looks around the PSG dressing-room he believes boss Unai Emery already has the squad capable of achieving that dream.
“One of my biggest reasons for joining PSG was to help the club write history. The Champions League is not the only trophy we want to win — but it is a very important trophy.
“The aim this season is to try and win it, that is the level the club are now at. I do believe we are capable of winning the tournament.
“Not only do we have the quality but we have the experience — the players who know what it takes to win the Champions League.
I have won the tournament, Dani Alves has won it three times, Thiago Motta has won it at Barcelona and Inter, Angel Di Maria has won it with Real Madrid. We not only have quality, but real experience.” Neymar is quoted as saying by the Sun
