Nigeria's on loan Liverpool striker opens account

Taiwo Awoniyi opened his goals account at loan club, Mouscroun on Saturday.

Former Nigeria U20 striker Taiwo Awoniyi has begun his career in Belgium in fine form after he inspired Royal Excel Mouscron to a 2-0 win at Lokeren on his league debut in Belgium.

Awoniyi, who is on season-long loan from Premier League side Liverpool, opened scoring for Mouscron after 23 minutes.

His team then sealed victory with a second goal after 66 minutes.

The 20-year-old Nigeria striker, who has previously played on loan in Germany and Holland, was replaced on the dot of full time.

Mouscron are now fifth on the league table with six points from three matches.

Also in Belgium, Abdul Ajagun’s Kortrijk won 2-1 at bottom club KAS Eupen.

Ajagun was booked, while compatriot Odeni George was an unused sub for Eupen.
