Nigerian ace dreams future partnership with Iwobi at Arsenal

Nigerian striker Junior Ajayi dreams future partnership with Alex Iwobi at Arsenal even as he is open to a contract renewal at the Egyptian club, Al Ahly.

The 22-year-old made his senior international debut in a cameo appearance in Nigeria’s 2-0 defeat to Serbia in a World Cup friendly in March when he came on for Gunners forward Alex Iwobi with three minutes left to play.

The former CS Sfaxien forward who still has two years left in his current deal with the perennial African Champion and he is ready to open talks on a contract extension with Al Ahly but eye a move to Emirate in the nearest future.

''I don’t mind renewing with Al Ahly,” Ajayi bared his mind to Egyptian TV channel CBC Extra according to a report on KingFut.

''I still have a couple of years left in my contract but I would be happy if Al Ahly wants to renew my contract.

''I don’t know what will happen in the future. I am currently focused on Al Ahly to accomplish our goals and I’m happy to be at one of Africa’s greatest clubs.

"We are better this season than last one in the Champions League. We understand it’s a tough mission, but we will work on winning the title for the fans as we know how important the competition means.''

The Nigerian forward, who got his first national team call-up in March, spoke about the possibility of playing in Europe after the World Cup.

"Arsenal is my favourite club and I wish to play for them in future. Thierry Henry is my all time favourite player too,” Ajayi added.

Ajayi's Al Ahly goes away to battle Smouha SC at Borg El Arab Stadium on Sunday.
