Nigerian Players' Wrap:Onyeka & Osimhen send warning to Rohr

Nigerian players playing abroad for featured for their various club over the weekend with Frank Onyeka, Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze & Henry Onyekuru all sent a warning to Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr ahead of this summer Afcon in Egypt.

Frank Onyeka was on target once again for Midtjylland in the Danish Super Lig encounter in the 2-0 win over OB at the MCH Arena on Sunday.

The 21-year-old midfielder netted in the 54th minute for Midtjylland on a day they were without their number one striker Paul Onuachu who was suspended for the clash after Danish international Jakob Paulsen opened the scoring from the penalty spot, two minutes before half hour mark.

Onyeka was however replaced by Gustav Wikheim with two minutes left from the regulation time.

Victor Osimhen scored in the 90th minute to help Sporting Charleroi to a 2-0 win over Westerlo on Sunday as the Nigeria international has now scored 13 league goals in 27 games this season for his club.


Samuel Chukwueze
scored the match-winner for Villarreal in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Girona in a La Liga clash. 

One-cap Super Eagles forward scored in the seventh minute to take his tally to five in 19 La Liga games for Villarreal and eight across all competitions in 32 games this season.

Elsewhere in Spain, Moses Simon came on for Antonio Luna in his 15th La Liga game of the season in the 70th minute of Levante’s 3- 1 loss away to Valencia.

The Nigerian winger has scored once this term for Levante who are 16th in the La Liga table.


Henry Onyekuru was on target for Galatasaray in their 1-1 draw away at ten-man Victor Moses’ Fenerbahce as Hassan Kaldirim was sent off in the 41st minute.

Everton on loan star scored in the 66th minute to take his goal tally to 12 in 26 Turkish Super Lig games.


Samuel Kalu was left out Bordeaux’s 3-0 loss away to Saint Etienne in a Ligue 1 game on Sunday.


One-cap Norway international Ohi Omoijuanfo made it three goals in three matches but could not prevent Molde from losing 3-2 to Bodoe/Glimt in an Eliteserien clash at Aspmyra Stadion.

Omoijuanfo converted a spot-kick with seven minutes remaining to make it 3-1 before teammate Leke James closed the scoring on 86 minutes, two minutes after coming off the bench.


Former Flying Eagles striker Chinedu Obasi opened his account in the league for AIK in a 2-1 win over Sirius at Friends Arena (Solna).

Obasi scored a crucial equaliser in the 62nd minute and his team went on to win the game.


Semi Ajayi bagged an assist as Rotherham United rallied back from two goals down to record a 2-2 draw in their Championship clash at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday

Nigeria defender has featured in 42 Championship games for the Millers this season and has scored seven times.

Oghenekaro Etebo who was on for the entire duration of the game for Stoke City has made 20 appearances and has two goals to his name.

John Mikel Obi was in full action as Middlesbrough defeated Hull City 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium.

 Britt Assombalonga scored the decisive goal in the 24th minute of the encounter.

 Mikel has played in 14 league games for Tony Pulis’ men since his arrival on a short term deal in January.

Ambrose Efe was nowhere near the starting line-up in Derby County’s 4-0 win against Bolton Wanderers.


Nnamdi Oduamadi has reacted after scoring his first goal of the season on his return from a career-threatening knee ligament injury for Tirana in their 3-1 win away at Teuta in the Albania League on Sunday. 

 The 28-year-old Nigeria international tore knee ligament while in action for Tirana five months ago and underwent career-saving surgery, drew the biggest cheer of the encounter when he shot his side into the lead four minutes before the break. 

Goals from Erando Karabeci and Edon Hasani secured a comfortable win for Tirana after Sekou Camara has drawn the hosts level in the 72nd minute.
