Former Super Eagles left-back Taye Taiwo has joined FC Lausanne-Sport of Switzerland on a five-month deal following a successful medical.
The 31-year-old who was a free agent after leaving Finnish side HJK Helsinki despite an impressive final campaign where he scored six times in 21 appearances.Read Also | Conte feels sorry for Mikel Obi
A statement on the official club website read: ‘FC Lausanne-Sport is proud to announce the arrival of a defensive reinforcement of weight in the person of Taye Taiwo, who spent his medical visit today.
‘This powerful defender of 31 years will reinforce the team until the end of the season 2016/2017, coming from the club of HJK Helsinki.
‘Before his visit to Finland, the former Nigerian international has spent much of his career with Olympique de Marseille, the team with which he won the French Championship in 2010, before leaving for AC Milan in 2011.’
FC Lausanne-Sport are seven-time winners of the Swiss football league but the last time they achieved the feat was at the 1964/65 season.
Taiwo could make his debut for the 7th placed Lausanne-Sport on Sunday when they host Luzern to the Olympique de la Pontaise.
