NPFL: Akwa United stay top with big win - FCNaija

Akwa United are keeping the number one position in the Nigeria Profession Football League standings for at least another week after they crushed Wikki Tourist 4-0 on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Ubong Friday, Victor Mbaoma, Micheal Ibe and Christian Pyagabara scored a goal each to give Akwa United the maximum three points from Sunday's game.

With the latest win, Akwa United now have 16 points after seven games.

The reigning NPFL champions, Plateau United also put up a ruthless display as they decimated Sunshine Stars team 5-0 in Jos on Sunday.

There were also home wins for the trio of Lobi Stars, Kano Pillars and Kastina United who defeated FCIU, MFM FC and Niger Tornadoes.

In Owerri, Heartland FC finally got their first win of the season as they beat Kwara United 2-0 at the Dan Ayiam Stadium.

However, Abia Warriors and Elkanemi Warriors were both forced to barren draws by Enugu Rangers and Enyimba FC.

In all 17, goals were scored in the Match Day 7 games decided across the country with Plateau United and Akwa United accounting for more than half of the total goal scored.
