Enyimba FC goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has tendered an apology for his sending-off during Sunday’s goalless draw against Akwa United in Calabar.

The Ghana international, who has been an in splendid form this season, was sent off for off-the-ball violent conduct in the 41st minute of the encounter.

Dauda acknowledged that his expulsion was the turning point in the game, and may well have cost the two-time African champions all three points.

"It’s very unfortunate that happened. "Who knows, we should have won the game if we had been 11 players on the field.

"The only thing I can do now is to ask the forgiveness of the fans, and of the whole team. This will not happen again." said Dauda

Ten-man Enyimba dominated proceedings, but could not find the breakthrough, drawing 0-0 against Akwa United on Sunday. The two-time African champions were forced to play the entirety of the second half a man light.
