NPFL|Sunshine dent Enyimba title hopes

NPFL By: Ayodeji Tunde | 03/08/2016

Hopes of Enyimba retaining the Nigeria Professional League, NPFL title was further dented on Wednesday in Port Harcourt as the Peoples' Elephant could only register a barren draw in their rescheduled Match Day 23 clash against Sunshine Stars. Enyimba who had dropped vital points at home in the Oriental Derby against Enugu Rangers were expected to get themselves together for the visit of the Akure Gunners but what has largely being a disappointing season continued for Coach Paul Aigbogun's men. The seven-time League champions will have themselves to blame even as they failed to make the most of the chances they created especially the penalty kick awarded to the team and was fluffed by Ifeanyi Onuigbo who infamously became the 20th player to miss a penalty Kick in the ongoing NPFL season. Now with 42 points and just one game outstanding, Enyimba are seven points adrift of table-toppers, Enugu Rangers and would need to dig deep if they are to get back in the title race which seems to be between Rangers and Wikki Tourists.
