NPFL Playoffs: Kano Pillars beat Enyimba to overtake Akwa

Kano Pillars beat Enyimba 2-0 victory over after goals from Adamu Hassan and Nyima Nwagua led them to their first win of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) Championship playoffs on Friday at Agege Stadium on Friday morning.

Sai Masu Gida side and People’s Elephant continue the encounter after the tie was stopped during the first-half added time of goalless scored on Thursday night after a heavy downpour.

Enyimba should have shot into the lead when they were awarded a penalty kick in the 61st minute, but Ifeanyi Anaemena's spot-kick was saved by Kano Pillars goalkeeper Suraj Ayeleso before the North base team got the opener in the 76th minute through substitute Adamu Hassan.

However, Nyima Nwagua scored five minutes later to ensure their first victory NPFL Championship playoffs as Kano Pillar leapfrogged Akwa United to the top of the table with four points and a goal difference of plus-one.

Lobi Stars, Enugu Rangers and Enyimba are all on three points but are third, fourth and fifth respectively based on goals difference, while FC Ifeanyi Ubah are the whipping team of the group so far with two losses.
