NPFL Playoffs: Rangers beat holders Lobi to get first win

Enugu Rangers beat defending champions Lobi Stars 2-1 in their Nigeria Professional Football League Championship play-offs tie at the Agege Stadium on Thursday night.

Rangers dominated the opening exchanges as captain Godwin Aguda put his upfront in the 13th minute of play before Chiamaka Madu doubled the Flying Antelopes lead in the 28th minute dribbling past Markudi base side keeper Ospino Egbo scored his second goal in the encounter.

Lobi Star striker Sikiru Alimi pulled a goal back 14 minutes after the restart of the second stanza of the match following a beautiful cross from his strike partner Samad Kadiri.

Samuel Otorm boys were, however, unable to find the all-important equalizing goal going down to their first defeat of the competition as  Alimi get his second in the Championship play-off.

Six-time champions, Enyimba and Kano Pillars will clash has been postponed till Friday morning due to heavy downpour after 42 minutes of goalless scored.
