Oboabona & Adepoju react after Yobo names as Eagles coach

Super Eagles By: Ikponmwosa Umweni | 13/02/2020

Two Africa Cup of Nations winners Godfrey Oboabona and Mutiu Adepoju reacted after Joseph Yobo was appointed as Super Eagles assistant coach to Gernot Rohr.

The 39-year-old former Everton defender replaces Imama Amapakabo, whose responsibility included oversight of the Olympic team and B side, saw that position compromised when both teams performed abysmally in their respective qualifying campaigns.

Yobo who played in six Africa Cup of Nations finals in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2013 playing a total of 100 matches for Nigeria at a senior level with three FIFA World Cup finals in 2002, 2010 and 2014 to his belt.

Adepoju and Oboabona react on their Twitter handle after the Nigeria Football Federation made the announcement on Wednesday night.

Yobo started out with Michellin in Portharcourt before going to Europe where he featured in Standard Liege, Tenerife, Marseille, Everton, Fenerbahçe and Norwich City but since retirement, the former Toffee has worked as a television pundit and also runs his own football academy.
