OFFICIAL: Bayern Munich confirm end of the season for Vidal

Bayern Munich has confirmed the end of the road for midfielder Arturo Vidal who sustained an injury during training on Sunday after advised to undergo surgery for a knee injury.

Vidal has been a vital squad member for Jupp  Heynckes’ side, the Chilean made 36 appearances in all competitions this season.

Bayern boss Jupp Heynckes provided an update on the fitness of Vidal on Monday, with the German tactician playing down fears of a long-term absence for the South American:

‘I’ve met Dr Müller-Wohlfahrt telephoned. An MRI was performed.’

‘Arturo has a free joint body in the knee. This prevents the stretching. He is already on his way to Augsburg  as he needs a small arthroscopic procedure.’

‘For sure, Arturo will only be short-term.’

Vidal will undergo an operation and the Bundesliga Champions will be without the midfield enforcer against Real Madrid in both legs of the Champions League semifinal tie.
