OFFICIAL: South Africa legend son joins English club

South Africa legend Lucas Radebe's son joined the English club Farsley Celtic after signing his first professional contract with the sixth tier side.

The 20-year-old who spent some time training with Leeds had an impressed trials during his week-long stint with Vanarama National League North side and the club moved swiftly to offer him a deal. 

"We are delighted to announce that Lucas Radebe, son of the Leeds United great Luca, has signed papers with our Under 23s squad for the upcoming campaign. Lucas Junior is awaiting International clearance from the FA before making his debut for Neil Ross's side a statement on the club’s official website.

Ross commented: "We are delighted to secure the signing of Lucas Radebe Jnr. He has been training with our under 23 lads this week and has impressed us with his technical ability and his pace.

"Lucas will be involved with the Under 23s as soon as his International clearance comes through. Our Under 23 squad is a group of very talented and hungry players working hard to progress the game. Although Lucas arrives with all the publicity he is certainly one of those players.

"He has arrived from South Africa for the opportunity to develop in football, and a big thanks must go to chief Lucas Radebe Snr for brining him down to Farsley Celtic.”

Radebe Jnr. will be expected to live up to the standards set by his father during his playing days in England after South Africa great made a name for himself at Leeds United during the mid-1990s and earned the plaudits from across Premier League. 

Farsley are currently third in the Conference’s National League North after a great start to the season having won their last five league matches and sit four points behind York City who occupy the top spot
