OFFICIAL: Super Eagles star joins Russian Champions

Super Eagles World Cup star Brian Idowu has signed a three-year contract with Russian Champions Lokomotiv Moscow from Amkar Perm.

The 26-year-old defender team-up with Railwaymen until the 2020-2021 season but Nigeria international will see him have the chance to participate in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Idowu revealed he very happy to join Lokomotiv Moscow, adding that he watched them playing in the European competition.

The Saint Petersburg-born told the club's official website: ''I am very glad to switch to Lokomotiv. I'm really looking forward to joining the team at the training camp.

''In childhood I watched the matches of Loco in the Champions League - against Real and Inter. The whole country was proud of the team!

''I am well acquainted with Aleksandr Kolomeytsev, we played together in Perm, I know the rest of the guys from the matches between Amkar Perm and Lokomotiv Moscow.''

Idowu was part of Gernot Rohr led side to 2018 FIFA World Cup in where he featured in all three Nigeria matches as the failed to make it past the preliminary stage.

Idowu will be registered as a foreign player as Lokomotiv aim to defend their title in the new season as well as participate in the UEFA Champions League.
