Nigerian star reveals why he dumped Girona for Ukraine club

Super Eagles striker Olarenwaju Kayode has been taken off the books of English champions Manchester City.

Ukrainian giants, Shakhtar Donetsk have agreed to sign the Nigerian star on a permanent five-year contract from EPL side after he impressed on loan.

The agreement will take effect from July 1, the club announced via their official website.

Shakhtar thus activated the option to buy the striker outright at the end of his loan deal.

Kayode was involved as the club won a league and cup double in Ukraine this past season.

At the beginning of the season, the former Austria Wien star went through a lean spell on loan at Girona in La Liga before he headed to Shakhtar to revive his career
