Enugu Rangers head coach Gbenga Ogunbote believes his side should have left Lafia with a point following Monday's NPFL showdown with Nasarawa United but for the referee's call.

The dethroned NPFL champions Enugu Rangers International at Lafia City stadium on Monday lost 2-1 to Nasarawa United in a matchday 5 encounter of 2018 campaign no thanks to an added-time spot kick by Seun Sogbeso after Okechukwu Odita had erased Abubakar Abdullahi's opener.

Ogunbote in a post-match reaction in Lafia said: "We played well especially in the second half and deserve to have left Lafia with at least one point but the referee knows better.

"We go back to put back our target on track against Rivers United. It was a painful loss."

Rangers captain Okey Odita who was furious with the centre referee added: "We came here to get a good result which would have been possible but I don’t know why the referee had to rule out my second goal. Yes, we have lost the match but the championship is still open for us."
