Patrice Evra has been linked with a sensational return to Manchester United.

Patrice Evra has been linked with a sensational return to Manchester United.

Evra’s former United teammate Rio Ferdinand fuelled speculations about a return to Old Trafford for the left back after posting a message to that effect on social media on Wednesday.

Evra, now 35, has struggled to get consistent game time at Juventus this season, and it is believed he is open to a move away from the Italian champions. He has only made five Serie A appearances for Juventus this season and his agent Federico Pastorello said last month there is interest from other clubs.

Already, Pastorello has admitted the Frenchman could leave the Serie A giants, with Ferdinand hinting a Manchester United return is on the cards.

It would seem timely for both Evra and Manchester United were he to return, as Jose Mourinho is yet to settle on a left-back so far this season despite having Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind at his disposal.

Ferdinand wrote on Instagram: “Patrice Evra, I'm hearing through social media you are coming home.

“I have to admit that, like all footballers, he would like to be playing more often.

“I've been receiving a lot of calls, and I don't know where the rumours are coming from, but Patrice is not at all unhappy at Juventus.

“I can only say that there is nothing definite right now about him leaving.”
