Pedro Rodriguez has backed Nigerian descent Tammy Abraham to come good to at Chelsea ahead of UEFA Super Cup match against Liverpool in Istanbul on Wednesday night.

The 21-year-old striker who had an outstanding loan spell at Aston Villa last season was recalled by Frank Lampard for the first time in his career after the Blues were handed a two-window transfer ban by FIFA.

Abraham scored twice for Chelsea in pre-season will be aiming to score his first competitive goal for the West London outfit against Liverpool but Pedro believes that the club new number nine will find his groove in the Premier League, and will be a force to be reckoned with.

Spanish winger told reporters: ''I know Tammy for a long time from when he was in the academy. I saw him training and on loan saw his improvement. His strength was to be in the Chelsea first team. He got a chance to be here because he deserves it.

''In pre-season, he has worked very hard. He was very close to start very well. Scoring is what strikers live for. We need to keep encouraging him.

''At this age, the only way he will go is up. We trust in him. A Chelsea striker demands the best level, but I am confident and trust him a lot.

''He is a player who has a great talent, work rate, and that goal could have helped for the confidence, but I really trust him.''

Pedro has won 26 trophies in his career including the Champions League, Europa League, and World Cup, and former Barcelona star is the most decorated player in the Premier League.
