Real Madrid president Florentino Perez aimed a sly dig at Cristiano Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes at the gala night after Luka Modric scoop the Ballon d’Or award in Paris on Monday evening.
Modric broke the domination of Ronaldo and Lionel of ten years to add to his individual awards after winning the Golden Ball award in the World Cup, European Best, and the FIFA Best Award.

Mendes reacted by stating, "Ronaldo is the best player in history.” But Perez insisted that
"Luka has been one of the best in the world for several years now, everyone puts Cristiano Ronaldo ahead, but I think this year the prize is deserved by Modric.
"He was effective and decisive from beginning to end. In 2012, when we took him, we thought he could become a Ballon d'Or.”
Modric joins the ranks of Real Madrid players to have won the award in the 20th century ranging from Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo de Lima, Fabio Cannavaro and Cristiano Ronaldo.
