Sadio Mane came through with a brilliant hat-trick as Liverpool were hosted by Porto in their first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 showdown which ended in a 0-5 scoreline at the Estadio do Dragao Stadium on Wednesday night.
First-half goals by Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah at the 25th and 29th-minute respectively gifted Liverpool an early lead before the second half unfolded with a brace from the Senegalese at the 53rd and 85th minute. Firmino scored a lone goal at the 69th minute.
Liverpool edged their visitors with a lone goal at the 25th minute as Sadio Mane opened scores for the Reds away from home. It was actually a goalkeeping error. Mane, right-foot shot when found by Wijnaldum who, 30 seconds earlier ought to have been played in by Mane for a tap-in. Mane made amends, finished off Wijnaldum's driving burst, but the keeper took the blame by diving over the top of it and squirmed as it slithered beneath him. The away team enjoyed a 0-1 lead at this point as the game proceeded.
Exactly four minutes after the first goal, Liverpool came through with a second goal at the 29th minute as Mohamed Salah as expected, delivered his first goal of the night. The scoreline moved up to 0-2 in favour
of the Kops.
The first half of the game ended as aforementioned as Liverpool grabbed a first-half winner in their Champions League encounter. Porto were
disjointed, devoid of inspiration while Liverpool picked them off after gradually taking a decisive grip on dominance.

Porto made another substitution at the 57th minute as Majeed Waris replaces Brahimi.
It was a festival of goals for Liverpool as they saw the back of the net for the fourth time at the Champions League showdown against FC Porto. The roles of the three Liverpool frontlines got completed as Roberto Firmino introduced himself with a goal at the 69th minute.
Another Porto substitution was made at the 74th minute as Goncalo Paciencia replaced Tiquinho Soares.
Liverpool launched their substitution at the 76th minute. Matip replaced Henderson. Two minutes later, Firmino came off, Danny Ings came on. Trent Alexander-Arnold as well replaced by Joe Gomez.
And Liverpool again came through with the fifth goal at the 85th minute courtesy of Sadio Mane. The Senegalese delivered a hat trick for the Kops who edged their visitors by far - to a 0-5 goal deficit.
By the time the last delivery saw it's way to the back of the net, there were barely any Porto fans left in the posh seats as they were shredded by Liverpool's pace and persistence. It was actually the kind of thrashing difficult to come back from and it killed the home side's confidence and credibility.
The match ended in a 0-5 scoreline in favour
of the away team, Liverpool who grabbed a comfortable three points away from home.
The home team, Porto once again failed to win Liverpool in their fifth encounter in the Champions League.
