PSG 3-1 Caen: Mbappe shines on his birthday with a goal

Paris Siant-Germain thrashes Caen 3-1 in the midweek encounter of week 19 of the Ligue 1 at Parc des Princes on Wednesday night.

The dethroned French Champions open their account through leading scorer this campaign Edison Cavani before birthday boy Kylian Mbappe get on the scoresheet to make 2-0 and left back Yuri Berchiche add his own in the 81 minutes of the match with late consolation from the away side Ivan Santini to end the tie

First half 

The first chance of the encounter falls to Ligue 1 leader as Javi Pastore play a through Kylian Mbappe who shoots went over the bar. Neymar goes for goal, but his effort was never close to hitting the target.

Cavani put PSG up front after 21 minutes with a fantastic backheeled goal after a lovely assist from France international Mbappe and three minutes later Caen star Ronny Rodelin has an opportunity to level it up as his left footed shot from outside the box is saved in the bottom right corner by the home side goalkeeper Kevin Trapp as the score still remain 1-0.

The Uruguay international Cavani has a wonderful chance to make 2-0 but somehow manages to miss the target after Neymar provided the chance with a headed pass.

Pastore has the chance to shoots from outside the box, but Caen keeper Remy Vercoutre has it under control.

Second Half 

Cavani goes for goal, but his effort was never close to hitting the target. Two minutes later Giovani sends a perfect ball from the left side for Mbappe, and the birthday boy makes it a 2-0 PSG lead.

Giovani almost makes three with some silky smooth moves and an equally brilliant chip shot that forces a finger-tip save from Caen stopper Vercoutre.

 PSG center-back Marquinhos found himself in a great scoring position but Caen keeper Vercoutre denied him with a great save.

PSG continued to chase a third goal and were rewarded through left-back Berchiche, who arrowed a low shot into the bottom corner in the 81st minute after receiving Neymar's pass.

Caen grabbed a late consolation when Ivan Santini converted a last-minute penalty after Thiago Silva had handled in the area.
