PSG forward Cavani debunks Atletico Madrid rumour

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has debunked the rumour linking him with a move to Atletico Madrid, according to a report in Goal.

Cavani has pledged his future to PSG for the next season, despite speculations linking him away from the French capital.

The Uruguayan forward has found himself under the shadow of Neymar, Cavani is also ready to put the issue he had with the Brazilian aside and extend his stay at the Parc des Princes.

Cavani has helped the Ligue1 outfit to reclaim the Ligue 1 title and also helped them to win the Coupe de France after scoring a penalty against Les Herbiers in the 2-0 win on Tuesday evening.

He has been linked with Atletico Madrid, but he insisted he will not be going leaving this summer.

“My future is here, of course,” he said. “I think that it has been a good season -- intense. We must enjoy moments like these. I am pleased for the supporters and to be here.

“Four consecutive Coupe de France wins represents a lot of history for PSG. We are here to win and win titles for the club.”

Meanwhile, he hailed the contribution of outgoing coach Unai Emery, who will make way at the club at the end of the season.

“I would like to thank Unai. I know that he gave everything for PSG each day,” the Uruguay ace said. “He is leaving but he should be congratulated because we can be sure that he gave the maximum for the club."
