Paris Saint-Germain has reportedly rejected a bid for Marco Verratti as the signature of the midfielder has taken a fresh twist.
According to a report in Italy PSG has turned down a €100 million offer from the La Liga giant, Barcelona.
Although Barcelona is keen to sign the midfielder to replace aging
Andreas Iniesta, the deal is taking another twist as reported by La Gazzetta Dello Sport
report that Verratti’s agent met PSG sporting director Antero Henrique in Milan on Monday morning to discuss the midfielder’s future.Related: Bayern Munich star wants Barcelona move
Di Campli apparently reiterated Verratti’s desire to leave and presented an offer from Barcelona who is willing to offer PSG €100m and Verratti a deal worth €10m a season, excluding bonuses.
However, Henrique was quick to dismiss the offer and has insisted PSG does not want to sell and in fact want to spend €200m on the team to make it competitive in Europe.
The report claims the two will meet again for further discussions shortly with PSG also aware of interest from Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Real Madrid who is yet to make any bid for the player.
Perhaps most interestingly La Gazzetta also states that PSG want at least €150m for Verratti who could well be the biggest transfer of the summer if he does indeed leave the French capital
PSG seem desperate to keep him, but the latest speculation claims that he is desperate to leave but his valuation might keep him for another season with the French team.
