According to Bild reveals, Leipzig previously ruled out a mid-season switch for the youngster, but the German team would be willing to release Keita early should Jurgen Klopp's side pay an additional fee of between €15m (£13.3m) and €20m (£17.7m) - funds that would not only allow them the chance to strengthen but also help them comply with UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules.
Keita was a key part of Leipzig's unlikely title charge last season, with eight goals and seven assists in 29 Bundesliga appearances, but he has just two goals in 12 outings for the side so far this term.
