Real Madrid attacking midfielder Isco and Chelsea trio of Cesar Azpilicueta, Marcos Alonso and Pedro are all left out as coach Luis Enrique announced a 23-man Spain squad for upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Norway and Malta next weekend.

The 26-year-old former Malaga playmaker has not played a full 90 minutes in 2019 and was largely frozen out of the first team by departed Santiago Solari, while he may now have a chance to stake his claim for a place in the starting lineup again under the returning Zinedine Zidane but Los Blancos star will not be a part of La Roja two game of the year.

However, The dethroned Premier League trio Azpilicueta, Alonso and Pedro could make the list plus other notable absentees from Enrique's squad include Atletico Madrid trio Diego Costa, Saul Ñiguez and Koke but there is also no space for  Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

Ex-Roma and Barcelona boss has selected just four players who currently ply their trade outside La Liga: David de Gea (Manchester United), Kepa (Chelsea), Juan Bernat (PSG) and Fabian (Napoli) but there is room for Jesus Navas, whose last international cap came in 2014 and Athletic Bilbao forward Iker Muniain, whose sole appearance for Spain was back in 2012.

Dani Carvajal's absence through injury means there are only two Real Madrid players in the squad, while Barcelona have three representatives with La Roja take on Norway at the Mestalla on Saturday 23 March, before traveling to Malta on Tuesday 26 March.
