Real 2:2 Fuenlabrada: Madrid struggle to see off challenge - FCNaija

Real Madrid struggle continues as the Spanish Champions put up another unconvincing display in their 2-2 draw against Fuenlabrada in the Copa Del Rey at the Santiago Bernabeu, Borja Mayoral scored a brace to equalise and also put the La Liga Champions ahead but a late strike from Alvaro Portilla ensured the game ended in a draw.

Real Madrid started the game with an offensive approach but it was Fuenlabrada that got the lead in the 25th minute for the visitors, but the Spanish Champions kept pressuring the Fuenlabrada defence in a bid to get a goal.

Los Blancos continued to search for their first goal as Franchu shot was blocked by the Fuenlabrada defence.

Dani Ceballos tried to force things up as he tried a strike by it blocked by the Fuenlabrada defence, the away team is set to prevent their lead as they compete for every ball on the pitch.

The first half ended with Fuenlabrada's strike the only goal in the encounter so far.

Real Madrid pushed forward in the beginning of the second half in a bid to get the equalizing goal but their effort was nullified by the disciplined Fuenlabrada defence, the visitors could have gotten the second goal but was denied by the woodwork in the 60th minute.

Zinedine Zidane replaced Franchu with Gareth Bale in the 62nd minute and the Welsh forward introduced himself into the game with a perfect cross to Borja Mayoral who headed in the equalizer for the home team in the 62nd minute.

Real Madrid began to add more pressure to the defence of the visiting team after they found the equalizer.

The Spanish Champions wasted no time to get their second goal through Borja Mayoral in the 70th minute, Bale’s introduction to the game really gave the Real Madrid second string team a soothing relief.

Zidane made his second substitution as he replaced Oscar with Luis Quezada in the 75th minute, Real Madrid made the final substitution of the night as Jaime Seoane replaced Mateo Kovacic.

Alvaro Portilla late strike in the 89th minute ensured Fuenlabrada gave a good account of themselves as Real Madrid continue to struggle to win convincingly.

Despite the draw, Real Madrid has qualified for the next round of the Copa Del Rey on aggregate scoreline of 4-2, Thanks to the 2-0 win in the first Leg.
