Real Madrid has dropped interest in the signing of Premier League ace, despite showing an initial during the winter transfer period.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez aimed to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen but the interest has cooled off following the latest development.

A summer transfer was considered for the Dane midfielder, knowing Eriksen has been stalling over new contract talks with Spurs.

The report in Spanish paper says: Perez is no longer willing to replace Luka Modric with the Dane midfielder instead he hand the Croatian star another contract to extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The president is also satisfied with the performance of Dani Ceballos as Modric’s successor at Real Madrid, both Modric and Ceballos have been good friends since the arrival of the young Spanish from Real Betis.

As such, word has now been sent to Eriksen's team that their interest in his signing is now over.
